5 Tips for Camping with Toddlers

Hitting the road and exploring the great outdoors with your little ones this summer? Take it from the Scouts, be prepared, with these 5 Tips for Camping with Toddlers!

Pack Plenty of Snacks!
Toddlers have small stomachs but big appetites. Pack easy to grab snacks like granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, exc. Having their favorite snacks on hand can help keep your toddler comfortable and happy while camping.

Bring Entertaining Toys and Activities
While exploring nature is exciting, toddlers have short attention spans. Bring a variety of toys, books, colored pencils, etc. to keep them occupied during downtime at the campsite. Glow sticks are always a hit at night!

Stick to a Routine
As much as possible, try to maintain your toddler's regular eating and sleeping schedule. The familiar routines will help them adjust to the new camping environment. Bring the same blanket, stuffed animal, or other comfort item from home.

Set Up a Safe Play Area
Designate a safe space at the campsite just for your toddler to play. Check out our Play Yards for great on-the-go options! Let them crawl, roll around, and play freely while staying within your view.

Practice Camping at Home First
Do a trial run by setting up a tent in the backyard and letting your toddler get used to the camping experience close to home first. This can help identify issues and get them excited about a real camping trip!
