Tired of scouring Pinterest for time management tips and finding super unattainable ideas?
Me too.
I need realistic time management ideas for busy moms like me. The kind that doesn't scare me away but get me amped up for creating that mile-long to-do list.
Sound like you? Then you’re in luck mama!
Today I’m sharing my top time management ideas for busy moms. They are how I finished school as a SAHM, started a business, and now rock working both in and out of the home as a mom of toddler twins.
To say my life is BUSY is an understatement. Here are a few tips to get you started on the path of organized chaos.
1. Get up and Start your Day
This is my number one tip to finding more time and staying on top of your game. It's crucial to get up for the day before the kids. Now, you don’t have to do a whole lot before they get up. Simply getting dressed and making yourself some coffee will do. But getting that jumpstart really helps get you in the mindset to rock your day!
2. Say NO
How often are you swamped simply because you can’t say no to that playdate, work get together, or paint night with your best friend? I used to be swamped because I could never say the word 'no'. I couldn’t pass up on the plans that came my way. But you know what happens when you start saying no to those random, last-minute plans? Your life opens up. You have more time. And not to mention you’re less stressed.
3. Grocery Pick-Up
You gotta make the world work with you in order to find the most amount of time in your day. For me, that is a grocery pickup. Instead of spending hours at the grocery store and buying way too much, I grocery shop here and there from my couch while my twins are occupied. That way I don’t have to take them in at all, just drive up and have the groceries loaded. You could even get your groceries delivered and save even more of your time. Some places have the first couple of deliveries for free!
4. Utilize Independent Play Time
When thinking of time management ideas, something I cannot live without is independent playtime. I started with the twins when they were itty bitty; helping them learn how to play on their own. Sometimes it is nice having two so they can somewhat keep each other occupied! But tools like a play yard are great for supporting independent playtime so that you can have that time to do other things, like chores around the house, get some work done, or simply rest without a baby on you for a few minutes.
Another great tool is the My Seat. This encourages the baby to:
- Stay in one spot.
- Play in their seats! Great for getting some work done when you are close by!
- I used these kinds of seats for cleaning and laundry days the most!
5. Keep Chaos at Bay
A great way to find more time in your day is to keep the mess from happening in the first place. I know I spend way too much time cleaning up messes, but I would have even more if I wasn’t using baby proofing items like safety gates to keep the twins out of where they shouldn’t be. Keeping chaos at bay is a huge help in finding more time in your busy day!
Making a dedicated play space is a lifesaver when it comes to toy pickup.
6. Get that Naptime Hustle
My last tip I have to share with you guys is to take advantage of naptime! This is such an easy way to find more time in your day. Naptime is the perfect time to get some self-care in, clean up the house, get some boss work done, or all of the above! I usually spend nap times tidying up the house and then getting to work.
These time management ideas for busy moms like us should hopefully help you get to where you need to be.
Keep in mind though, you don’t have to be a super mom. Even with the best time management tips in the world, I can’t add more actual time to your day. So, use these tips and give yourself some grace. Keep self-care on your “must-do” to-do list and get to rocking it.
I believe in you!
