Your Baby Registry Must-haves

A baby on the way means your to-do list is piling high, and you’re preparing for your baby’s arrival in less than nine months! Getting a baby registry list set up is one of the many things you need to do.

A baby registry allows your friends and family to pick out gifts that will be a good fit for your home!

It’s helpful to compile a list of those items you need and want so you can feel ready to focus on your baby when it’s time.

Here is an ultimate baby registry checklist. We tried to think of everything, items that are on nearly every registry, but also many items that go unregistered for, but will be essential as your child grow.

Baby clothes

Baby clothes will dwindle your baby budget quite quickly, but they’re just so cute! Although this may seem like a lot of clothes to put on your registry, but trust us, babies have many unexpected bodily fluids and it’s nice to have extras on hand.

  • 6–8 onesies
  • 6–8 pairs of pajamas
  • 2 blanket sleepers
  • 1–3 sweaters or jackets
  • 7–8 pairs of socks
  • 1–2 hats

Nursery Items

Setting up your baby’s room with the perfect colored walls and furniture takes time, but you’ll be glad you crossed it off your list!

  • Crib with firm mattress (or a bassinet)
  • Baby monitor
  • Nightlight
  • Dresser
  • Rocking or arm chair
  • White noise machine

    Baby bedding

Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping baby? Not really, which is exactly why you’ll want to make sure your baby has comfortable bedding!

    • 2–3 washable crib mattress pads
    • 2–4 fitted crib sheets
    • 4–6 light blankets

    Diapering Necessities

Pretty soon you’ll be fixated on how often your baby has a bowel movement. It’s not the most glamorous thing to talk about, but it’s important to take care of their sensitive skin!

    • Changing table or pad
    • Diaper pail and liners
    • Diaper bag with organizing system
    • Unscented baby wipes
    • Diapers (lots of them)
    • Diaper cream

    Bath items

Bathing a newborn can be a tricky situation, so it’s best to keep everything nearby. Newborns don’t need baths daily, but you’ll get plenty of use out of these items. [We do have a great guide to bathing a newborn]

Feeding your little one changes over time, and it is helpful to put items on your registry that go beyond just the bottle and cleaning supplies.

    Baby gear

This is a category that often gets forgotten on a registry. Even though the newborn essentials are usually covered, new parents often forget that essential items evolve as their baby grows. Whether you’re out and about running errands or at home trying to keep up with your mobile baby here are the essentials that will make your life simpler.
